Valentine’s Day is a special day in the calendar. I do agree that it has become very commercial and many people (dare I say most men?) would cherish its withdrawal. Nevertheless I think it is a great opportunity to give your loved ones that extra bit of attention & appreciation. And to be fair, name days, mother’s & father’s day and even a day in honour of the pancake exist, so really, Valentine’s Day should be plausible.
Being a hopeless romantic and very old-fashioned, I was not a happy bunny when the boy announced that due to a packed schedule he was going to be 24 hours delayed.
Luckily, I don’t hold a grudge for too long and consequently all was forgiven when I received a bouquet of red roses accompanied by a personalized photo book. Don’t get me wrong here, I was also pleased by the arrival of the box of chocolate boy.
Furthermore, knowing I’m a sucker for meat, particularly for steak, B (selflessly) decided to treat me to one of my favorite venues in town, Gaucho.
Sit back & get ready for an utterly decadent journey:
It all began with a 15-minute memorized speech held by our overly-enthusiastic waiter. He gave us a crash course on the different kinds of meats. I would love to share some of this highly useful information, but I must admit I was too engaged with the scanning of the menu.
Next on the journey was bread. Not just any old bread. It was soft, spongey and succulent and it endured pure torture in leaving some space for what was to come.
Ta Da……………
It was unreal. Thick and juicy, yet so fine & bursting with flavour.
I chose the 225g of ” Eye of the Lomo”. A lean and tender Fillet with a delicate flavour accompanied by peppercorn sauce and a mixed salad.
(Don’t judge a book by its cover. It was more way more appetizing than it looks.)
B opted for 300g of the “Churrasco de Chorizo”. A spiral sirloin cut, marinated 48 hours in garlic, parsley and olive oil with mushroom sauce and fries.

If this doesn’t satisfy you, nothing will. It’s a great place for a date, dinner with friends or a huge birthday party. You really can’t go wrong.
You’ll find them in many different cities across the country as well as in Dubai. Oh and do make sure you book beforehand. Especially on weekends as it tends to be fully packed.. For more details check out their website here.
